2001 — The 6th National New Year Picture Exhibition 2001年参加中华人民共和国 第六届全国年画展览 The 6th National New Year Picture Exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the P.R. China, the Press and Publication Administration of the P.R. China, the Chinese Artists Association and the Chinese Publishers Association, was grandly held in Shanghai on May 23, 2001. With new artworks composed from 1994 to 2000, the Exhibition was the largest retrospective show as well as the largest debut of new artworks in the century. Two artworks of Xuhui, entitled “Lotus & Kingfisher and Fragrant Lotus Pond Picture”, were selected into the show. The booming lotuses in the pond were seen as the token for the grand process that Chinese paintings had gone through.
